When she did marry into the French royal family there was little love for her in a court ruled by her husband’s mistress Diane d’ Poitiers. But, Catherine eventually ruled as regent for a brief time and put three of her sons on the French throne.
She so loved perfume that she brought her own perfumers from Italy and some say, even housed them in a building that had only a tunnel leading to the palace so that no one could steal the recipes for her perfumes.
For her, I crafted a fragrance with oakmoss, precious woods, spices and cinnamon in the base. Ripe peaches, Jasmine sambac and roses in the heart and top notes of very understated citrus and bergamot.
